It all begins with a consultation. Together with you, we consider the entire presentation of the mouth. Arrangement of teeth, including their size and colour, gum levels and lips all work in harmony to create a natural, healthy-looking smile.

Clear communication during this time is essential to achieving the results you envision for your teeth/smile. Old photographs of you smiling, pictures from magazines with smiles that you find attractive and even old models of your teeth can all be helpful in communicating your thoughts.

Once you have an idea of the results you’re looking for, Dr. Friedman and his team use a number of tools to help you fine-tune your vision. Imaging software, for example, allows you to instantly preview any changes to your teeth and smile. Seeing the results of your treatment on a screen offers the flexibility to make changes and refinements before any work begins.

A second method used to convey a cosmetic improvement to your smile involves a physical “mock-up”. Tooth-coloured wax is used to create a model of your new smile giving you a full 3-dimensional view of the proposed changes.

Finally, there are provisional (or temporary) restorations. This technology permits you to “wear” your new smile for a trial period before creating the restorations that will ultimately be bonded to your teeth. Provisional restorations, which can be easily modified while in the mouth, are in fact the most accurate tool we have for previewing your results.
